Our History
NICE (Needy Illiterate Children Education) was founded in May 2002 by Purnachandra Rao with the aim of providing education and care for children who had little or no access to schooling due to poverty, orphanhood, or difficult social circumstances. What began as a small initiative gradually developed into a structured effort focused on long-term educational support.
Over the years, NICE established a fully free residential school that provides food, shelter, healthcare, and academic guidance to children from rural and disadvantaged backgrounds. The school combines formal education with discipline, values, and life skills to help students grow into confident and responsible individuals.
Today, NICE School continues to support hundreds of children through free education while also extending its work into community outreach, health camps, and village development programs. The institution remains committed to its founding purpose of creating better futures through education and care.
The Impact We Made
NICE School has been working since 2002 to support children affected by poverty, child labor, and lack of access to education.
Students have consistently achieved strong academic results, including years of successful Class 10 results with no failures. The school currently supports over 200 children through free residential education and care.
Beyond the campus, community initiatives such as health camps, organic farming awareness, and village development programs have improved health, hygiene, and livelihoods in nearby rural areas.

The Man Behind the Vision
Purnachandra Rao – Founder
NICE School was founded by Mr. Purnachandra Rao in May 2002 with the vision of providing education and care to children who had little or no access to schooling. Coming from a rural background and having witnessed hardship in his own life, he understood the challenges faced by orphaned and underprivileged children in continuing their education.
Before establishing NICE School, Mr. Rao spent several years volunteering in social service activities and also worked in the corporate sector. These experiences helped him understand both the needs of disadvantaged communities and the importance of organized, sustainable support systems.
With determination and community support, he began NICE School as a small initiative, which gradually grew into a fully residential institution providing education, food, shelter, and healthcare. The school today supports hundreds of children and also contributes to nearby villages through outreach and community programs.
YERRAPENTA VILLAGE ADOPTION
NICE School adopted Yerrapenta village with the aim of improving health, awareness, and self-sustainability in the community.
- Health camps and medical support
- Distribution of clothing and essential supplies
- Organic farming awareness
- Establishment of a community library
- Awareness programs on hygiene and self-reliance
These efforts have resulted in improved health practices and increased adoption of sustainable farming among villagers.
